Place Saemangeum
Cost Free

The Saemangeum Sea Wall is the most extensive operation in Korea's modern history. The "sae" in Saemankum comes from the idea that this sea wall creates new land by merging two of Korea's most fertile fields; the rest of the name was made by merging the "man" of Mangyeong Field and the "kum" of Gimje Field.

Naesou Temple is located in Nunga Mountain of the Byeonsan peninsula. With its center at the Guaneum peak of the south foot of the mountain, the temple seems like a wall spread out on the mountains. This temple was founded by Haeguduta in 633 (34th year of Baekje King Mu's regime).
In 1633, which is after the Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592, the temple was reconstructed for the third time and
reconstruction work has been going on continuously until recently, making the temple into the shape it is in now. The temples can be divided into three levels. At the center of the lowest level is the Cheonwangmun and the Bongraeru, with belfries on the left and right. At the middle level is a three-story stone pagoda along with a Seolseondang and Museoldang, and the area is used as a place for zen practice and spiritual discipline. The highest level is the main temple and there is a Samseongak and Gwansimdang, and the area is used as a place for service. What is interesting is that the lowest level has preserved a traditional bathroom, which is something that cannot be easily found in other temples.
